Shattered Doppelgänger

The Shattered Doppelgänger is an unofficial character class for MÖRK BORG - one part body horror, one part psychological horror, and one part existential crisis (or, three parts existential crisis, if you prefer).

As a Shattered Doppelgänger, you cannot fully control your innate shape changing power. While your companions wander The Dying Lands, struggling to find meaning in a doomed world; you get to have the joy of wandering The Dying Lands, struggling to find meaning in a doomed world while losing your grip on your body and mind - what fun!

Contains:

• d6 class powers of varying usefulness
• a very simple rule for when to change your persona
• d66 names you might need to burn through
• d10 suggestions for titles of renown you may claim to have
• A potentially entertaining companion
• Color and Grayscale version
  • The grayscale version has more white-space as I removed some of the art that really needs the black background. Use the space to draw your own (link me to your art if you do!)

Suggested play of this class:

I personally prefer when classes have a lot of room for interpretation, so there are some intentionally vague wordings in the document for your table to decide how to run. However, here is some short advice...

• At all times your character could be considered stressed, your GM may call upon you to roll for your current persona (or Shatterling, if you prefer) to retain control of the character. If you fail, your personality and body changes immediately. You may wish to improvise a whole new persona each time, or you may find it more entertaining to create a stable of characters you switch between - or some combination thereof.

• If it's better for your table, discreetly roll whenever you feel your character would be stressed by the situation they're in (you may even roleplay that different personas have different stressors).

• For GMs: Shoutout to Tycho/Better Dreams Publishing (https://itch.io/profile/richard-56789) for suggesting a scenario whereby a player's shattered selves may try to escape into new bodies, bleeding out from the player's character into the world. Sounds like a cool way to torment the table!
